Attendance Policy
Attendance Policy
In-Person*
Students may miss up to two (2) days of any Summer School class, but one additional minute missed (such as a tardy) will result in dropping the student from the course. Any lateness or tardiness will round up to the nearest 15 minute increment. Due to the limited time available, absences cannot be cleared and are counted as time missed in their in-person class regardless of the reason (e.g. illness, suspension, family emergencies, court dates). Students may check in with the Attendance Office to get an update on their total time lost at any point during the Summer School session.1 full class missed = 3 hours of absence
Tardy 1-15 minutes = 15 minutes of absence
Tardy 16-30 minutes = 30 minutes of absence
Tardy 31-45 minutes = 45 minutes of absence
Tardy 46-60 minutes = 60 minutes of absenceSummer School is voluntary and, as a result, any disciplinary issues may result in time lost for a student exhibiting behavior issues.

FAQ's
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
How do I sign up for Summer School?
Your counselor at your regular school site can assist you with signing you up for Summer School. How do I drop from Summer School?
Your counselor at your regular school site can assist you up through the last day of school. How do I change my schedule?
Your counselor at your regular school site can assist you with changing which classes you are taking as well as whether they are taken in-person or online. How can I view my Summer School schedule?
Students and parents can view their schedule in Aeries like you do during the regular school year. Schedules will be live starting the day after Spring Break, April 10th, 2023.Does taking a Summer School course replace the grade on the transcript if a student retakes the course?
No. Both the original course that was taken with the original grade will be on the transcript as well as the new Summer School course and grade. Both grades are averaged into the student's overall GPA. College and universities, however, do look over the entire transcript and will see the second attempt to take the course over again and looks favorably for the student. Why are students limited to taking only one (1) online course at a time?
We have found that students take the entire Summer School session to complete only one course. To avoid taking up a seat for another student, we have limited only one class at a time for all students. Students can, however, add a second course upon completing the first at anytime during the Summer School session.Do I have to attend both the AM and PM sessions?
No. We offer both sessions to allow more opportunities for students, but students only need to attend the class that appears on his/her/their schedule. Can I take a regular in-person class and an online class?
Yes. Students can take all online, all in-person, or one of each (in any order) to better meet the student's scheduling needs. Talk to your counselor to learn more. Why does the online class have a specific time?
This is done to allow teachers a time frame in which to hold their Office Hours for students on their roster so that it doesn't conflict with students who may have an in-person class.Attendance Questions
