Recommendation: Grade of B or better in English 10, or C in Honors 10. Summer reading and writing are required.
Students in this course study the fundamentals of rhetoric which can be applied to academic writing at the college level while reading and analyzing a variety of nonfiction selections Students participate in writing seminars that use student writing as the focus for analysis. Emphasis will be placed on acquiring the skills necessary to pass the AP Language and Composition exam. A score of 3, 4, or 5 on the exam enables the student to receive English credits from most colleges and universities. This college level course requires a high level of motivation and commitment due to extensive reading and writing requirements.
