AP English Literature engages students in critical reading and analysis of fiction, drama and poetry. Through their reading of both British and American works of literature, students deepen their understanding of how authors use language to create meaning. Writing assignments focus primarily on analysis of selected readings as students learn to examine literature from many angles and to express their ideas clearly and creatively. This course will prepare students to take the AP Literature Advanced Placement Exam. A score of 3, 4, or 5 on the exam enables the student to receive English credits from most colleges and universities.
