RJUHSD Athletic and Activities Update - July 22, 2020

July 22, 2020

Dear RJUHSD Families,

As we approach the start of the 2020-2021 school year, we would like to share updates related to athletics and other school activities. Recently, the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) and the Sac-Joaquin Section (CIF-SJS) announced their modified athletic calendar and seasons of sport for the school year. All seasons of high school sports will have start dates from December 2020 to March 2021.

Last month, we obtained guidance and approval for students to begin conditioning and training. Operating in small pods, we were encouraged by the safe and positive participation of our athletes. This success prompted plans to bring marching bands and other groups back under similar guidance. However, these activities have been temporarily suspended due to recent increases in COVID-19 cases impacting our community.

We understand parents and students have questions about how and when athletics, performing arts, school clubs, and other groups can resume. We are continuously monitoring the directives and guidelines released from the Governor’s Office, the California Department of Public Health, and Placer County Health. If guidelines change, we will immediately resume athletic and other student activities safely at each of our school sites.

We look forward to seeing all of our students representing their schools in athletics and other activities soon. Please look out for further information from coaches and school staff in the weeks to come.

For more information regarding each season of sport, please view the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Sport Calendar and CIF Press Release June 20, 2020.

Thank you for your ongoing support.
