    Principal's Message
    The staff and students at Independence High School offer an inclusive environment in which every student is wholeheartedly welcomed and included in our school culture to the degree that they want to be.  Each student is given an individualized education with a method of learning that best suits how that student learns.  We offer a similarly rigorous and highly engaging curriculum as used throughout the district, but through the independent study model, students can learn at the pace they need to master the essential learning targets, at the time of day that they best learn, repeat the assignments to master the material before "moving on" to the next unit, utilize varied methods to show they have mastered the targets, and have access to a caring and accepting staff who are invested in supporting every student's learning.  A student can accomplish their education through a traditional individualized course of study or include participation in a number of small group classes that we offer on campus.
    It is our goal to ensure that as many options for the future are available to our students as we can.  Our classes are approved by the US and CSU systems, and if a student chooses, he/she can leave Independence High School prepared to go directly into a 4-year college.  However, if a student plans to go directly into the workforce, we have a number of classes and options to help the student prepare for their career as well.   


    All students will have the opportunity to reach their academic potential through multiple paths to success.


    Students at Independence High School will avail themselves of instructional methods that ignite their desire for lifelong learning.


    Independence High School will inspire all students to be prepared to take any number of paths to their future.


     We use technology to accelerate student learning and enhance our students' educational experience.  Through our "blended" learning approach to education, (combination of on-ground and on-line) our students are able to achieve "mastery" of the essential learning objectives in their courses using the degree of technology with which they are most comfortable.  We have chrome book access 24-7 for students to use to support their learning.  


  • We are requesting your permission for your child to be a part of our school’s California Healthy Kids Survey sponsored by the California Department of Education.  This important survey will help provide data to improve the school learning environment, academic achievement, and the health and wellbeing of our youth.  It includes questions about drug abuse, safety and violence, risk of depression and suicide, and sexual orientation.

  • Student Chrome Books:

    Starting after 10 am on Tuesday September 18, 2018 families can now pick up student chrome books at Independence High School AFTER they meet all requirements.

    • Go to the RJUHSD website:
    • In upper right hand side select: Departments
    • Then Select : Technology Services
    • On left side of web page select: Student Resources
    • First select Chrome book Contract: click on the red (Click here) link and read contract, sign and print and bring to IHS when picking up the chrome book. If needed we can print this form for you when you arrive.
    • Next select Chrome Book Repair: click on the red (click here) link and view and read the form
    • Lastly select Insurance Review: click on the red (click here) link and read the form. If opting in for the insurance you must sign and print form and return to IHS when you are picking up the chrome book along with a check or cash only for the $30.00 insurance fee.
    • Parents or students can pick up the chrome books as long as all requirements have been met and forms are signed by parent & student.

  • Before you come to your appointment, please go to the District website and click on Enrollment and returning students need to go to Data Confirmation and look over the information that has been put in from last year and change what needs to be changed.  New students please go to AIRS and follow the directions on how to fill out all the paperwork that needs to be filled out before your appointment.
