BOARD MEMBER ELECTIONS BY-TRUSTEE AREA

Notice of March 14, 2022 Public Hearing of the Placer County Committee on School District Organization

Resolution No. 2204 of the Roseville Joint Union High School District was approved by its Board of Trustees on February 14, 2022.  The Resolution established:

  • Elections for Board members will now be By-Trustee Area utilizing Map #7
    RJUHSD Map showing 5 By-Trustee Area Districts in different colors
  • Board member elections for the five By-Trustee Areas will take place as follows and continue in the every-other-year sequence:
    --November 2022 – 2 vacancies – Areas 2 and 4
    --November 2024 – 3 vacancies – Areas 1, 3 and 5

Background:

The following steps took place to establish Board member elections By-Trustee Area:

May 14, 2020, the Board of Trustees of the Roseville Joint Union High School District approved Resolution No. 2013 to begin By-Trustee Area elections beginning with the November 2022 governing board election.  

August 26, 2021, a public hearing took place to receive public testimony concerning the composition of potential trustee voting areas associated with the District’s transition to a by-trustee area election system in advance of the preparation of draft trustee voting area plans by the District’s Demographer.  

September 9, 2021, a second public hearing took place during which public testimony was heard and the Demographer provided more detail regarding mapping tool choices.  

December 21, 2021, Notice of Public Opportunity to Participate in District Areas Mapping for Board Member Elections

January 13, 2022, the first of two public hearings was held to review draft maps by the District's Demographer. National Demographics Corporation Consultant Doug Yoakam presented his three draft maps and those drawn by community members.

January 27, 2022, the Board discussed the proposed maps and provided further input and directives to the Demographer for his creation of final Trustee voting areas map choices.

February 10, 2022, the second and final of two public hearings was held to review the final map choices.

February 14, 2022, the Board approved Resolution No. 2204
