Enrollment Rights for Military Families
California Education Code Section 48204.3 provides important protections to ensure children of active-duty military members experience uninterrupted educational opportunities. Under this law, eligible students may:
-
Enroll in public schools, including charter schools, even if they reside outside district boundaries due to military relocation.
-
Receive priority placement and remain enrolled regardless of changes in housing or residency during the school year.
-
Transfer seamlessly when their family relocates, supporting educational stability and continuity.
-
At RJUHSD, we recognize the unique challenges faced by military families and are dedicated to providing a supportive, adaptable learning environment that accommodates each student’s individual needs and promotes academic and personal success.
