Mr. Eli Ferrier
Mr. Ferrier is an accomplished builder and craftsman with 7+ years of classroom teaching experience. His career in building and construction was largely influenced by growing up in a family of builders. Shortly after earning a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature at UC Berkeley (2000), he went into the trades full time as a carpenter, living and working in Truckee, California. Mr. Ferrier earned his General Building Contractor's License from the California State License Board in 2010 and has been working to train the next generation of builders in California since 2016.
Mr. Ferrier focuses on sustainibility and new technologies to maximize efficiency and minimize waste, and actively promotes gender equity and the inclusion of underrepresented groups in the trades. He is experienced in nearly all trades associated with residential and commercial construction and has been involved in everything from restorations of historically significant buildings to pouring concrete with helicopters for ski lift tower construction. He specializes in energy efficient retrofits of existing homes, new custom home construction and architecural woodwork. In his free time, Mr. Ferrier enjoys building and rowing wooden boats; riding and wrenching on bicycles; gardening; and sharing music and stories around a camp fire.
Mr. Ferrier strives to bring authenticity and trust to his teaching and is honored to be a mentor to the next generation of tradespeople. He is thorough, focused, gentle, and loves a good joke. He brings a lifetime of learning and teaching to the classroom.
