Mr. Martin
Hello! My name is Mr. Martin. I'm thrilled to join Antelope High School as an Education Specialist and to be part of this incredible community.
Professionally, I've worn many hats in the educational world over the last three years. From teaching English, US History, Biology, and Geometry to guiding students in Academic Labs, I've grown into the educator I am today. My academic background includes an Associate of Occupational Studies in Culinary Arts from the California Culinary Academy, an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts: Arts and Humanities from Contra Costa College, a Bachelor of Arts in English from Arizona State University, and a Master of Arts in Special Education from the University of San Francisco. I'm working towards my Doctorate of Education at California State University, Sacramento.
Education is more than just a job; it's a calling. I'm passionate about teaching and driven to provide my students with the tools, knowledge, and inspiration to succeed academically and in life. My approach emphasizes relationships, a safe and joyful learning environment, and high expectations. Understanding that students are as diverse as the ingredients in a gourmet dish, I tailor my methods to meet each individual's unique needs and tastes.
Outside the classroom, I'm something of a culinary artist, Christmas enthusiast, and Disney devotee. You might find me savoring Coca-Cola, exploring Disneyland, or watching the latest blockbuster when I'm not teaching or working on my studies. My 15 years of marriage, the joys of being a foster father, and my beloved dog, Penny, add flavor and warmth to my life.
In addition to being an educator, I consider myself an advocate for children and students in out-of-home placements. My journey, including being a court ward until I was 18, has shaped my dedication to serving and uplifting others.
Being a TITAN is excellent, and I look forward to getting to know everyone. Here's to a year full of learning, laughter, and success!
