Hello! I have been public schools all my life. My parents were teachers, so I found myself in classrooms pretty much since I was born. I attended high school where I grew up in San Jose. I went on and earned a BA in English with a minor in Humanities at San Jose State University. I then moved to San Francisco to work on  Masters at SF State, but left early when an opportunity arose to teach English in Japan for a year. After returning from Japan, I earned my single subject credentials and started working right away. I started my teaching at Half Moon Bay High School (9 years) and moved to Grass Valley to work at Nevada Union (1 year). I found my new and final teaching home at Oakmont High in 2003.

I still live in Grass Valley on the "Compound" with my wife, my chickens, and my Welsh Corgi. In my non- teaching hours I work in the garden, ride my bike, read, fish (mostly unsuccessfully), travel, and see my daughters and grandchildren as much as possible.
