Mr. Micah Albert

Pro Photo, Career Technical Education

I'm a first-year teacher excited to begin a new chapter here at West Park.

I've been working as a photojournalist specializing in difficult-to-access regions in Africa and the Middle East for the past 20 years. I was a grantee from the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting and a World Press Photo award winner. I was a frequent contributor to the World Food Programme, UNHCR and have published work in every major global publication, including in-depth features for, The New York Times, National Geographic, The Guardian, BBC, Washington Post, Foreign Policy Magazine, and many others. Additionally, I was a Subject Matter Expert for the U.S. Dept. of State on key regions in Sub-Saharan Africa and MENA.

I've also been an academic and panel speaker on regional conflicts in the MENA region, advanced photojournalistic techniques in high-risk environments in over two dozen universities, public radio appearances, and keynote to various D.C. beltway thinktanks.

I've been married for 21 years and have a daughter in 7th grade and a son in 4th.

I hope to contribute real-life application and photography career expectations along with the practical and foundational practice of photography and digital workflow.
