Mr. Micah Albert

Pro Photo, Career Technical Education

I'm excited to start my second year as a teacher and share my passion for photography and real-life experiences with all of you.

Before stepping into the teaching world, I spent fifteen years as a photojournalist, specializing in documenting difficult-to-access regions in Africa and the Middle East. Throughout my career, I received the prestigious Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting grant and was honored with a World Press Photo award. My work was featured in numerous global publications, including The New York Times, National Geographic, The Guardian, Washington Post, Foreign Policy Magazine, and many others. I also contributed to significant organizations like the World Food Programme and UNHCR.

As an experienced Subject Matter Expert specializing in geopolitical dynamics, regional conflicts, security, counterterrorism, governance, and human rights across the Middle East/North Africa (MENA), Sahel, and East Africa, I had the privilege of serving the U.S. Department of State. Sharing my knowledge in academic settings, panel discussions, and public speaking engagements, I've impacted policy decisions, fostered stability, and promoted positive change. My collaborative, culturally competent, and results-oriented approach has advanced regional peacebuilding, capacity building, and international cooperation in Sub-Saharan Africa and MENA regions.

On a personal note, I've been married for 22 years and am blessed with a daughter in 8th grade and a son in 5th grade.

In the classroom, my goal is to provide you with practical and foundational photography skills, along with insights into the real-life application and career expectations in the photography industry. I'm excited to guide you through the digital workflow and nurture your creativity, just as I've done throughout my professional journey.
