Christina Sanchez Juarez
Ms. Sanchez is an artist, educator, and organizer with over 15 years of experience in the education field. A proud daughter of Mexican immigrants, she was born and raised in Woodland, California, where she was encouraged from a young age to participate in arts and culture activities. In high school, she was fortunate to have an amazing art teacher who mentored her and helped her apply to college. Upon graduation she moved to the San Francisco bay area to pursue her dream of becoming an artist. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from San Francisco State University and taught art in a small parochial school in Oakland for many years. In 2010, Ms. Sanchez moved to Los Angeles to pursue her graduate degree with an emphasis in community based art making. She attended the Otis College of Art and Design where she received her Master of Fine Arts in Public Practice. After graduate school, she worked as a public artist and as an art teacher at an independent school in Culver City. In 2019, she received her single subject Art credential from Cal State Los Angeles and has worked in public schools ever since.
Ms. Sanchez is passionate about social justice issues and spends most of her free time volunteering with various grassroots organizations. She loves spending time with her cats, going on neighborhood walks, and watching her chef husband cook delicious meals.
