About Roth
Hey there! I'm Mr. Roth and I started teaching in 2014, initially as a middle school technology teacher in Salt Lake City, Utah. I came to Woodcreek in 2019 and am our Multimedia teacher.
I enjoy spending time with my wife in the great outdoors, doing freelance graphic design work and screen printing, and shoes (yes, shoes).

Multimedia Pathway
Our multimedia classes focus on video production, graphic design, and photography. Students are able to start off with an introduction in Multimedia and continue to learn more with Advanced Media and will be able to focus on the areas that interest them in our capstone course.
Below is a breakdown of each course 👇
-
Multimedia
This is our introductory course to the Multimedia Pathway. The focus of this course is on the basics of video production, graphic design and photography.
In our lab we learn how to use various cameras and equipment for video and photo as well as software from the Adobe CC Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere.
-
Advanced Multimedia
This is the second course in our Multimedia Pathway. In Advanced Multimedia we build on what was learned in the first Multimedia course.
We continue to learn more about video, graphics, photo with more student choice in which areas to focus on. Participation in school productions is a part of this course both for video and graphics and can include working for the school with streaming football and basketball games.
-
Media Management
We have not offered the capstone course here at Woodcreek yet, but this course would be to help students who have completed the first two courses to have a capstone experience.
In this course the focus will be on the content area the student is interested and they will work with Roth in determining a capstone project to showcase the skills they have gained. Capstone students will also play a role in the Woodcreek media productions for the school.
-
Graphic Design
While not an explicit step in the Multimedia Pathway, students can take graphic design as a course that holds a focus in Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. Students will learn more in depth about the principles of design and start creating a portfolio they can showcase.
