I am new to Antelope High School for the 2019-2020 school year and am very excited to be teaching NGSS Physics here. Physics is one of my favorite science topics and I can't wait to show my students just how awesome it is! My goal for each one of my students is that they develop their capacity for critical thinking, scientific problem-solving, effective studying/research, and peer collaboration (that they will all need to be successful no matter what their futures hold), along with a basic understanding of the scientific principles that underlie the natural world we all inhabit.
My path to education was not the conventional one, I obtained a B.S. in Materials Engineering from Cal Poly SLO and an M.S. in Applied Physics from Aalto University in Helsinki, Finland; I also worked as an engineer in the manufacturing sector for a time. I decided to be a science teacher after observing some inspiring classrooms and got my credential at Humboldt State University. My favorite things in life outside science and education include my wife, children and dog, as well as reading, gardening, traveling, and exploring the natural beauty of northern California.
