Mrs. Ana Marcela Kerns
After graduating from San Jose State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Science in 1990, Sra. Kerns returned to her former middle school and began teaching. At JW Fair Middle School, she taught numerous Spanish classes, including World History and American History. She would later move to the Sacramento area and continue teaching History and Spanish at Center Unified School District, followed by Roseville City School District. At Eich Middle School, she helped to begin the Middle Years IB program and the Spanish for Heritage Speakers Program. For seven years, she chaired the World Language Department.
She joined the Oakmont staff in 2019. She currently teaches Spanish 1, IB, Spanish 1/2 SL, and Spanish for Native Speakers. Marcela is the IB CAS coordinator, Senior Class Advisor, and a member of the OHS Culture and Climate team, and shares the role of the World Language Department Chairperson.
Sra. Kerns enjoys leading educational trips with students traveling the world. She has led groups to Peru, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, France, Spain, and Greece. She enjoys serving the community and spending time with her husband, two adult children, and extended family.
