After graduating from San Jose State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Science in 1990,  Maestra Kerns returned to her former middle school and began teaching.  She taught numerous classes at JW Fair Middle School, including World History and American History.  She would later move to the Sacramento area and continue teaching History and Spanish at Center Unified School District, followed by Roseville City School District. At Eich Middle School, she helped to begin the Middle Years IB program and the Spanish for Heritage Speakers Program.  

She joined the Oakmont staff in 2019.   She currently teaches Spanish 1 and Spanish for Native Speakers.  Maestra Kerns is the  Senior Class Advisor, the advisor for the Key Club, as well as the Interact Club.  She also is the World Language Lead for the Roseville Joint Unified School District. 

Sra. Kerns is passionate about connecting with our students. She enjoys serving the community and spending time with her husband, two adult children, and extended family.
