    Athletic Department Philosophy

Our goal is to enrich the mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing of all students by providing competitive opportunities in which the lifelong values of sportsmanship, individual effort, teamwork, integrity, and commitment are emphasized.

    Sportsmanship:

Roseville High School students and parents are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship and good relationship with other schools.  Be positive.  Cheer for your team rather than against the opposition.  Refrain from booing and name calling.  Respect the officials’ judgment and interpretation of the rules. Exhibit respect for visiting and home coaches, athletes and fans.  Be a fan with character as we “Pursue Victory with Honor.”

    UPDATED GUIDANCE SEPTEMBER 10, 2020

The California Department of Public Health is allowing the Roseville Joint Union High School District to implement sports training and conditioning under specific circumstances. This is a positive step in preparing our student athletes for the upcoming seasons and improving their overall physical and mental health.

We understand that some athletes and/or their parents may have concerns with returning to play given the state of COVID-19 in our region. Participation is completely optional and is not a requirement for trying out for the high school team. If any student athlete feels pressured or concerned about not participating, please inform them to contact the school’s athletic director or school administration.

Precautions and Considerations Physical distancing, in combination with the use of face coverings, decreases the risk of COVID-19 from respiratory droplets. Physical distancing must be maintained as much as possible, and adults and students must use face coverings at all times, pursuant to the CDPH Schools Guidance regarding face coverings.

Coaches are to make sure each student submits a physical prior to participation and Acknowledgement of Risk Form.

  • CIF-SJS Announces Plan for the 2020-21 Sports Seasons

State CIF, in conjunction with the 10 section offices has determined that the most effective way to deliver all of the Fall, Winter and Spring athletic seasons for the 2020-21 school year is to condense them into two (2) seasons of sport (early season and late season).

This may allow for seasons to be as close to normal as possible, eliminating any type of truncated season, and helps with the spacing between particular sports & the overlap of certain sports between seasons.  The CIF-SJS has provided the Sports Calendar Below.
