Melanie Prosser

Melanie Prosser started her teaching career at Oakmont High School in the Fall of 1996 and taught all classes within the Family and Consumer Science department. She opened the Tiny Vikes preschool, began Cafe La Bleu, and taught Fashion/sewing classes until her departure in 2005. Melanie returned to teaching at Oakmont during the Fall 2018 school year.  Melanie has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Sacramento State University in Home Economics with a concentration in Textiles, Clothing, and Merchandising and a Single Subject Teaching Credential from Chapman University. Melanie is a ServSafe Certified Instructor. Along with her passion for fashion, she has years of experience in Culinary Arts and the restaurant industry. She began working in restaurants at the age of 15. 

During her years away from Oakmont, Melanie enjoyed raising her kids, traveling, teaching at Sierra College and selling real estate. 

Melanie has been married to her husband since 1992 and they have two kids and two dogs. They live in Lake of the Pines, where they enjoy playing golf, tennis, waterskiing, paddle boarding and improving their house and yard.
