Mr. Justin Silva
I grew up in nearby Davis, California. I spent my first few years out of high school working as a Project Engineer for large scale construction projects ranging from libraries to prisons to Sacramento State's gym, The Well. After realizing that I no longer wanted to work as an engineer, I went back to school at Sacramento City College with the intent of becoming a Social Studies teacher. I transferred from Sac City to Southern Oregon University, where I graduated with honors, served as the head of the Inter-Clubs Council and a Senator and was asked to present my Capstone project (What makes young people vote: An exploration of the factors that influence 18-26 year olds to vote) Upon graduation, I spent the next year working at Da Vinci Charter Academy as a paraeducator, working with special needs students. At this time I was accepted to UCSC's Master's in Education program. I spent the next 3 years working at Watsonville High School as a Social Studies teacher and one of the leaders of the ECHO academy. I am very excited to be working at Independence High and can't wait to make a contribution to this community!
