Single Subject Teaching Credential in Social Science from University of California Davis

Thomas Smith

After receiving my Bachelor's in History (focus on East Asia) from CSUS in 2010, I moved to Japan and taught English for about three years. Upon returning to America, I got my teaching credential and Master's in Education from UC Davis. Prior to starting teaching at Oakmont in 2018, I taught World Studies and IB HotA II at Scotts Valley High School.

I'm a Roseville native, having grown up here through middle school and high school. I moved away for a bit from 2010 to 2018 as I taught in Japan and Scotts Valley, but am overjoyed to be back. I've been married to my wife since 2013, and had my first child (Emilia) in 2018 (the day before school started!). I've been obsessed with history for as long as I can remember, and enjoy sharing that passion with students in a fun, rigorous classroom setting. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, camping, swimming, and playing video games and various board games/pen and paper games.
