Since 1989, Mr. Everts has been teaching high school music. During his career Mr. Everts has taken students to perform at the Portland Rose Festival Parade; Disneyland (several times); Carnegie Hall in New York; Symphony Hall in Chicago; and Bray, Ireland for St. Patrick's Day Parade! Mr. Everts's students leave his program ready to face the world. Mr. Everts believes that music is a wonderful subject to teach "life skills." In music, there is right and wrong, as well as, gray. Life is much the same.
One of the many highlights of Mr. Everts's career was being the first full-time band director at Granite Bay High School. Mr. Everts was at Granite Bay High School from 1997-2005. With a lot of help from many people, Mr. Everts was able to grow a band of thirty-nine students to over 110 in four years and maintain that size. During those eight years, the band performed at Disneyland several times. Raised money for the American Cancer Society & A.L.S. Association. In the fourth year of the Granite Bay High School program's existence, they won first of many sweepstakes. Granite Bay High School's band program continues to flourish.
Mr. Everts is married. Mr. and Mrs. Everts have been married since March 30, 1991. They have a twenty-one year-old daughter, Katy, who is a student at the University of Idaho and a twenty-three year-ol son, Paul Joseph (smile).
