Robert Opel has been a member of the science department since 2017 and teaches IB Physics, NGSS Physics, and Chemistry. Robert is a proud alumnus of Oakmont High School and is happy to be back as a teacher. He attended university at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo and earned a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. After college, Robert worked in a wide range of fields before finding his passion in teaching. Robert enjoys working with teenagers and aims to support every student to be successful while upholding the viking expectations. Robert teaches with a 'learn by doing' philosophy that encourages students to be engaged through hands on experience and real world problem solving.

Outside of school and work, Robert enjoys many hobbies. Robert is an avid soccer enthusiast. He plays, coaches, officiates, and watches the sport. He was the JV boys soccer coach from 2018-2022, but has decided to take a break from it. Robert also enjoys traveling, fishing, hiking, gaming and working on cars.
