My name is Michael Handling. This school year begins my fourth year at GBHS and fifth year teaching. I have a Bachelor of Education (secondary) from Grand Canyon University where I graduated Magma Cum Laude and received my teaching credential from the state of Arizona. I am NCLB compliant for California and acquired a California Single Subject certificate on 1 August 2015. Most recently, I completed a MA in English with an emphasis on Rhetoric.

As a positive and motivated teacher, I am tenacious in providing students with a dynamic and exciting learning environment in which they can grow and develop. I am familiar with the Common Core curriculum, and I thrive on keeping on top of the latest resources and developments within the teaching industry. In my previous career, I was a Counterintelligence Agent in the US Army, where I was tasked with not only deploying overseas but also becoming an instructor for future soldiers. With an in-depth background with technology and English/Language Arts, I seek to encourage students to enjoy extra-curricular activities and study groups, which as an Eagle Scout, I believe instills them with self-directed lifelong learning.
