Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Céline Genève-Brown
My name is Céline Genève, I am a French native who grew up near the border between France and Switzerland. I came to the United States after doing an exchange program as a high schooler. Like many of the students in my classes, I dreamt about traveling to put my language skills to use and I was thrilled to have the opportunity to come to this country to do so. Now that I have a family and live here, I still go back to France at least once a year to be with my family and friends and to reimmerse myself in my culture.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and I received my teaching credential in 2004. I started my career teaching high school French in Sacramento before deciding to move back to my hometown of Geneva for a few years to spend more time with my family. I am now starting my third year at Granite Bay and I feel privileged to teach French at such a great school. We have an amazing French program at GBHS, one that leads students from complete beginners to masterful effective real world communicators.
I am passionate about exposing my students to a different culture, a different language and a different way of looking at our world. I believe that learning French opens a window into a world of possibilities for our students and I feel lucky to be a part of their journey.
