    A beginning course for all students who are interested in learning about design, drawing, painting, and the processes of art as an area of study. Upon completion of the course students should possess a knowledge of the overall art program, art as a worldwide element, the creative processes found in art, and the role of art in American culture and history.

    Art 3

    Art 3 is designed for students who wish to prepare for AP Studio Art or continue their advanced level art study. Students will produce an art show including creating an artist's statement that captures the thematic and aesthetic elements of the student's work, and developing a body of work that explores a central theme and stylistic commonalities. Students will have the opportunity to enhance their practical understanding of the fine art career field, including work with local galleries, advertising and marketing strategies, the use of computers and the development of a personal art portfolio.

  • 3D Animation

    3D Animation

    3D Animation is a course designed for students interested in integrating technology and art. This beginning course will give students the artistic knowledge and technology skills needed to create computer animations. Students will learn how to design with basic stock shapes and will progress into more complicated projects where they create their own characters. Students will learn how to manipulate shapes, textures and colors while changing motion, camera placement, and lighting. Students will learn to use the industry standard software application 3DS Max.

  • Advanced 3D Animation

    Advanced 3D Animation

    This is an advanced computer elective course designed for students interested in developing their maturity in 3D Animation and may be taken multiple times for credit. The course will continue to develop student's artistic design and storytelling skills, while allowing them time to practice advanced animation techniques. Topics will include sophisticated modeling, advanced lighting and materials, character rigging, special effects, and particle systems. The class culminates in a large professional quality animation, in conjunction with the Sacramento-Sierra Digital Studio Arts Project.
