Rachel Stewart

Hello, I am Rachel Stewart, and I am an Oakmont alum, graduating class of 1991. I helped the OHS girls basketball squad win the CVC conference my senior year and received a scholarship to play basketball at the University of California, Berkeley. I played all four years at Cal and received my BA in Psychology. I began my teaching career in 2001, as a new teacher, I worked in a Placer County run program for students with severe emotional disturbance. I taught the junior high school portion of the program for seven years. I decided that I wanted to get back into coaching basketball and transferred to Challenge High School, which is part of Woodcreek High School and RJUHSD at the beginning of the 2008 school year. I worked at Challenge teaching English 11 and 12, ILS, World Studies, Academic Lab B – Pre-Algebra, Academic Lab A – English, Government and Academic Lab C. In 2016, I transferred up to the main Woodcreek campus and began teaching in the Functional Skills Program. I taught Functional Academics – Math and English as well as Independent Living Skills. While I was teaching at Woodcreek I was also the head coach of the varsity girls basketball program at Oakmont High School. At the beginning of the 2017 school year, I transferred to Oakmont High School to teach in the FSP program. I am happy to be back at Oakmont and on campus. I love teaching in the FSP program. Within the 2017-2018 school year, our program stated an on campus company, “Cool Kids Coffee Company”, as well as began a Unified Sports club and participated in both soccer and basketball events. I look forward to continuing to grow the programs at Oakmont High School. I am happy to finally be home and be a part of the Oakmont Family.

In my spare time, I being with my family, coaching basketball, going to concerts, playing with our two pups, traveling and photography.
