Mr. Frank King

Hello!

I am a special education teacher at Challenge High School, part of Woodcreek High School. I have worked in the district since 2007, starting as a para-educator. I transitioned to Challenge (part of Woodcreek) at the beginning of the 2009 school year, still as a para-educator, and immediately fell in love with the student population, faculty and overall atmosphere. In 2012 I completed my bachelors degree at Sacramento State University, and then in 2015 I made the decision to further my education and began a masters and teaching credential program at National University. I have since completed my Education Specialist Credential and finished my Masters of Science in Special Education, writing my thesis on intervention strategies for students with behavioral and emotional disorders.

Challenge High School is the location of the district wide Therapeutic Intervention Program, where staff and students work together to overcome social and emotional challenges that affect students' academic success. I am honored to, not only be a part of a great educational institution, but also am privileged to work with this amazing group of students. I look forward to each school year, to the growth and development of both academic and social-emotional that students will experience, and lastly, to the further development of myself both as an educator and a human-being.

Outside of teaching, I am a guitarist and musician. I love to play both metal on my 8-string electric guitar, acoustic-folk music on my acoustic, and everything in between. My guitar work can be heard on the album "Ashes of Vesuvius" by the Sacramento metal band called Jack Ketch. Playing live music invigorates me and I truly love to create and display my inner-self through the sound of music. I am a performer, both as a teacher and a musician. I am also an animal lover. I have two English Mastiffs (big, cuddly, drooly dogs), a cat (that thinks he's a big dog), four goats, a sheep and a horse. My wife and I began to develop a ranch-style home that we purchased in early 2020. My daughter was born that same year, and shares in our love of animals and music. I love to share my knowledge and experiences and I love to support those around me in achieving their professional and personal goals.
