Mr. Appleby has been teaching at Woodcreek High School since 2001. Prior to teaching at Woodcreek, he taught for seven years in San Jose Ca. at Pioneer High School. Mr. Appleby’s current teaching assignments are Art 1, Art 2, Art 3 and AP art drawing and painting. In the past he has also taught Photography 1,2 and Algebra 1.
As an artist, Mr. Appleby concentrates on painting in both oil and acrylic paints. He has done work in charcoal, graphite, printing, graphic design, illustrations for t-shirts, stained glass, and wood carving. He has traded some of this art work with William Joyce, a writer/illustrator and filmmaker.
Mr. Appleby believes that if a student can write their name then they can draw. Drawing is a mechanical process and can be learned.
