BA Degree in Physical Education and Spanish Certifications in CPR, First Aid and Water Safety Instruction
Michelle Baxter is a Physical Education teacher at Oakmont High School. She was born in Okinawa (USAF) with her family settling in Napa, CA. by the time she entered first grade. After graduating from Vintage HS in 1974 she attended UC Davis majoring in Physical Education and Spanish. She played collegiate volleyball and softball completing her BA degree in 1979. She attended CSU Sacramento for her K-12 teaching credential. She began her teaching career in 1982 as a substitute and a year later entered her first teacher position at Emerson Jr. High School in Davis, CA. In 1993 she was hired by RJUHSD to teach at Oakmont and coach girl’s volleyball. She now heads the Physical Education Department as the coordinator.
Ms. Baxter and her husband Bill have two children, Cassie and Kyle. Her husband taught Physical Education and coached for 37 years in the San Juan district. He presently is an assistant women’s basketball coach at CSUS. Her daughter Cassie graduated from El Camino HS and completed her Kinesiology degree, credential and master’s at CSU East Bay. Presently she teaches Physical Education at a middle school and coaches volleyball and basketball. Ms. Baxter’s son also graduated from El Camino and attended CSU Humboldt with a full basketball scholarship. Graduating in 2012 with a business degree he was hired to play professional basketball in France. He is presently in Sacramento with a great business career. Hobbies include playing league volleyball, tennis, golf, hiking and anything fun!
