Mrs. Liane Baldwin
In 2001 I started my teaching career in the Elk Grove Unified School District. I taught at Laguna Creek High School and Sheldon High School for a combined 11 years before moving to RJUHSD where I have been since 2013. I have taught everything from intervention English courses designed to help students who are reading and writing far below grade level to AP Literature and Composition and was a yearbook adviser for 9 years. I am actively involved in curriculum and professional development at Oakmont and in the district and currently serve as the English site representative for the District Writing Assessment, the site testing coordinator, and the CAS coordinator for the IB Diploma Programme. I am also an ERWC presenter through SCOE.
While teaching is my heart, I have many other interests outside of the classroom. I love to cook and spend much of my time thumbing through cookbooks for new recipes to try and then testing them out on my family and friends. An avid reader, I always have a book or two going -- usually one fiction and one non-fiction, and Iḿ always looking for new works that I can use in my classroom either as a resource for a lesson or as a book recommendation for my students. I consider myself to be a "life-long" learner and am excited to be working towards a Masters Degree in Language and Literacy through CSUS. I am particularly fond of musical theatre and 80s rock bands and try to attend as many shows as time and money will allow. Other hobbies include cooking and baking, traveling, photography, antiquing, and bargain-hunting.
