I began teaching in the Bay Area in 1989. I moved to the Sacramento area and began teaching English at Oakmont in 1992. I have taught all grade levels, but have spent most of my years at Oakmont working with grades 11 and 12. In addition to college prep English, I teach AP Language and Composition and IB English HL 2. I believe that the ability to read and write provides a critical foundation for students, and my greatest joy is seeing students develop in these areas.

My passion for reading is one of the hazards of being an English teacher, and my "to be read" pile never seems to get any smaller. I love sharing book suggestions with students and hosting staff book clubs at my home here in Roseville. When I'm not reading, I can be found taking long walks with my Tibetan Spaniels-- Sebastian and Maeve.
