This is my 21st year teaching mathematics - the 14th at RJUHSD. It was 25 years ago that I discovered that teaching Mathematics was my calling. After tutoring about 6 different students at a community college, I became addicted to the positive feedback from my students. Beyond that I found there to be no greater joy than to see students have that "aha moment" when they learn something new. So it is safe to say that I am a lifer - I will retire as a lifelong math teacher someday. I hope that the remainder of my career will be right here at Roseville High School.
Over the years I have taught almost every math class imagineable. I am currently teaching IM2 and Honors Pre-Calculus.
I am married and have two wonderful boys - Dillon and Ethan (ages 10 and 12). Together we have trained and are currently all 2nd degree black belts in TaeKwonDo. Due to other interests and injuries, we are currently retired from TKD, and so baseball, racquetball, swimming, our Rottweiler Rosie and our school related studies occupy much of our time.
I want my students to know that they are ALWAYS welcome in my classroom - if my door is open they are welcome to enter. I arrive at my classroom about 20 minutes before school and normally depart at about 3:00. I have found that students who take advantage of these office hours, tend to really thrive. To me, the only greater joy than teaching in the classroom with 35 students is to work with my students one on one! So please NEVER HESITATE to come and visit and get help with anything that's troubling you mathematically. Normally we can fix what's troubling you in 5 or 10 minutes. I also recommend that students come in for a safe and quiet place to get homework done - there doesn't need to be anything critical, to come in for some help.
I am looking forward to a positive school year, and GO TIGERS!!
