Hello and THANK YOU for visiting!

I am thrilled to be in my 10th year teaching Culinary Arts & Hospitality Management in the district. After three years at Granite Bay and Del Oro High Schools, I had the opportunity to 'come home' to our neighborhood Roseville High School where I've enjoyed teaching in our fabulous commercial-style kitchen ever since.  My husband, Doug, joined the Tiger Team as a math teacher and wrestling coach a few years ago.  It's almost as if fate has brought us full circle, after falling in love in high school 30+ years ago...and high school is still so much FUN for us!

Both of us made a midlife change and decided to become teachers when our three sons were teenagers.  All three took full advantage of RHS's diverse academic and athletic opportunities and were uniquely prepared for tackling life after high school, I believe. Raising our family in this community (volunteering in schools, sports, church), working in marketing, management and the hospitality industry have uniquely prepared me for this work.  My hope is that every student benefits from at least one course in our program so they will, at minimum, be resourceful and mindful about food choice.

With an 'empty nest' since 2015, Doug and I have additional time and energy for helping our community's young people build confidence and relationships, discover their interests and passions, and begin to prepare their next steps after high school.  It is truly rewarding for me to watch my students explore, grow and experience new challenges in a state-of-the-art, industry-designed workplace environment where they develop transferrable skills along with knowledge of food, nutrition, cuisines, and techniques.

I truly enjoy sharing my passion for food and teaching high schoolers, so contact me with questions, ideas or a request a tour of our facility anytime!  aash@rjuhsd.us
