Mrs. Angela 'Chef' Ash

Hello and THANK YOU for visiting!

I am thrilled to be in my 15th year teaching Culinary Arts & Hospitality Management at Roseville High School. After three years at Granite Bay and Del Oro High Schools, I had the opportunity to 'come home' to our neighborhood, where I've enjoyed teaching in our fabulous commercial-style kitchen ever since.  My husband, Doug, joined the Tiger Team as a math teacher and wrestling coach 11 years ago and it's almost as if fate has brought us full circle. After falling in love 35 + years ago in our So. Cal high school, we are passionate about helping students explore opportunities during this critically important chapter in their lives.

Together, we made a 'midlife change' and decided to leave the business world to become teachers when our three sons were teenagers.  All three took full advantage of RHS's diverse academic, CTE, ROP and athletic opportunities and were uniquely prepared for tackling life after high school and have built successful careers since. Raising our family in this thriving, vibrant community (volunteering in schools, sports, church), working in marketing, management and the hospitality industry have uniquely prepared me for this challenging and important work, I believe.

With an 'empty nest' since 2015, my husband and I have additional time and energy for helping our community's young people build confidence and relationships, discover their interests and passions, and begin to prepare for their next steps after high school.  It is truly rewarding for me to help my students explore, grow and experience new challenges in a state-of-the-art, industry-designed workplace environment where they develop transferrable skills along with knowledge of food, nutrition, cuisines, and techniques.  In this Brigade kitchen/team environment, students' self-confidence quickly grows and develops into critical reasoning skills with  hands-on, daily collaborative lab lessons that yield tasty results to be shared and analyzed.  ProStart  Cup Competitions in management and culinary along with our Tiger Cafe & Catering business and externship opportunities are available to those who are interested in industry paths.  Numerous industry partners seek quality employees from our Food Safety Certified student pool.

I sincerely enjoy sharing my passion for food and teaching a wonderfully diverse population of high schoolers 'hungry for knowledge', so contact me with questions, ideas or a request a tour of our facility anytime--I'd love to share more with you about how our program works!  aash@rjuhsd.us
