Air Quality Policies for Oakmont Athletics

  • Oakmont Athletics operates under RJUHSD guidelines regarding Air Quality Readings and when it is appropriate to shut down athletics activities.

Using the data from the California Air Resources Board provided at the Air Now website we monitor the air quality index on a daily basis for all athletics activities. We use this data, plus what we are seeing on-site, to determine if we are to modify or shut down athletics activities. For information on the various levels of AQI please go HERE

When the Air Quality Index (AQI) hits 100 we ask our coaches to immediately begin monitoring sensitive groups and modify/reduce activity both indoors and outdoors. Depending on conditions at the school we may limit all activity to indoors only and shut down outdoor activities.

When the Air Quality Index (AQI) crosses 150 we shut down all outdoor activities and begin to make a site based determination on whether or not to continue indoor activities.

If the Air Quality Index (AQI) crosses over 200 all activities will be immediately shut down.

If you have any further questions please contact the Athletic Director.
