• The Staff in the Wellness Center is made up of many wonderdul individuals who look forward to supporting the students of Adelante High School this 2019-2020 school year.  Wellness Staff is made up of RJUHSD employees as well as Interns from various accredited Universities across California.  Wellness staff offer a variety of services, which they deliver based on their training level.  These services include: individual therapy, group counseling, case management, Attendance Success Plans, community resource facilitation, crisis intervention and mentoring.  We collaborate extensively with the Administration, the Counselor and Teachers to ensure, within boundaries of confidentiality, that we care in communication about students and families we serve.

With over 20 year experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker working in schools and promoting student wellness I look forward to supporting the needs of students and families at Adelante High School. Its a privilege to support Wellness Centers which provide a comfortable and safe space for students where they can get confidential services. When not at work I enjoy living and playing in the Sierra foothills or just staying home working in my yard and hanging out with family, friends and of course my dog. I have much gratitude for the opportunity to work with the students and staff at Adelante High School. I am amazed on a daily basis by the strength, resilience, and determination seen in our students! I am passionate about integrating mind and body in addressing Mental Wellness and sharing this with our students, staff and families. So, in addition to being a Marriage & Family Therapist I am also a Registered Yoga Teacher. When not on campus I can be found out walking my dog, in the yoga studio, camping, or working in the yard. I enjoy the outdoors very much and the grounding effect it brings. I look forward to our work together! Please feel free to contact me at: shalford@rjushd.us

I am a second year Master of Social Work student at Sacramento State University and am so excited about the opportunity of interning at Adelante High School this school year. When I am not interning or in class, I enjoy spending my time with my dog, Bentli, taking him on long walks and to the river to swim, as well as listening to music and trying new foods. I look forward to learning new and effective ways to holistically support students and provide a helping hand to those across campus.

I am a social worker with Placer County. I work with kids in a program called Juvenile Family Treatment Court. I have desired to become a social worker for some time. I am super excited to be working at Adelante and learning how to develop the skills that I will need to have to become the best social worker that I can. Thanks for you support along the way!
