    Cheryl Young- Student Athlete Class of 1977

    During both varsity Cross Country seasons, Cheryl was undefeated in SFL meets and the overall SFL champion (including setting the record times both years). Also the subsection champion (11,12), she went on to finish 2nd and 4th, respectively.  In Track, she was undefeated in the mile and 2-mile both years for SFL meets, setting the league record each year in both events. Usually running 4 events (880, mile, 2-mile and mile relay) at a meet, she finished second both years at subsections ( mile- junior and 2-mile -senior). Then at sections she just missed going to state both years. Cheryl made the All-Metro SJS best distance runners team, selected by Sacramento Union newspaper. She was offered a full time 4 year track and x-country scholarship  from UCLA.
