    Clinical Medical Assistant PROGRAM OVERVIEW

    The Medical Assistant program, provided in partnership with CalRegional, consists of 160 hours of classroom instruction followed by a 160-hour externship.

    Students will be trained to: 
        Assist the physician with patient care
        Administer medications and take vital signs
        Schedule patients
        Manage the front office

    Students are placed in a 160-hour externship after completion of the classroom portion of the program.  Students are required to be available full-time, Monday through Friday, to be placed.

    This course prepares students for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).

    Phlebotomy Technician PROGRAM OVERVIEW

    The Phlebotomy Technician Program, provided in partnership with CalRegional consists of 104 hours of classroom instruction and hands-on training at our patient service lab/center.  

    Students will be trained to:

    Perform venipuncture, butterfly and syringe methods; Locate arteries and veins; Identify and Prepare Patients; Understand and Apply standard precautions between Phlebotomist and patient; Learn proper specimen handling for quality assurance. 

    This program satisfies all training guidelines established by the California Department of Health--Laboratory Field Services. 

    Graduates will be prepared to take the Certified Phlebotomy Technician Exam through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).  Exam prep with interactive study guide is included.

    Evening Class:  Tuesday through Thursday, 5:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
        Session 1: June 23, 2020 - August 13, 2020
        Session 2: September 1, 2020 - October 22, 2020
        

    Clinical Medical Assisting

    Day Class: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
        Session 1: June 1, 2020 - July 27, 2020
        Session 2: August 10, 2020 - October 5, 2020
        Session 3: October 26, 2020 - January 20, 2021

    Evening Class:  Monday through Thursday, 5:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
        Session 1: June 8, 2020 - August 13, 2020
        Session 2: August 31, 2020 - November 9, 2020
        Session 3: TBD


    HOW TO APPLY

         Pre-requisites:

      • 12th grade students who are 18 years old and in good standing at any RJUHSD School. 
      • Adult School students must provide proof of completion of high school diploma or US equivalent.
    1. Register by calling CalRegional at (800) 927-5159

    2. Attend any mandatory program orientation meetings (applicants will be informed of required meetings).

    3. Pay tuition prices as quoted by CalRegional (ALL programs are $2,995 or less - subject to change).

    4. Purchase any necessary supplies (e.g., texts, scrubs, equipment) - applicants will be informed of required supplies.
