• Granite Bay Boys Volleyball - Coaching Staff


    Head Coach: Winston Prather
    Coach Prather has been at Granite Bay since 2016.   The Grizzlies have won two Section Titles (2016, 2019) and two League Championships since he took over the program.  In 2016 Granite Bay took 2nd in the Norcal Playoffs and finsihed the season with a national ranking of 13th.  Winston has been coaching boys volleyball for more than 20 years.   He established and directed a boys volleyball club in the San Jose Bay Area in the mid 1980's thru the end of the 1990's.  He was also on the Board of Directors of USA Volleyball running the Boys Division for the Northern California Volleyball Association in the late 1990's.  Winston retired from Hewlett Packard after 30 years in 2014 allowing him the time to return to coaching and is excited about leading the Granite Bay Boys Volleybal Program.   Along with his Granite Bay High School Coaching role he currently coaches boys volleyball with the Northern California Volleyball Club (NCVC).  He is also the Sierra Foothill League (SFL) representative to the Sac-Jauquin Section, and a member of the American Volleballl Association (AVCA) Boys National All-American Selection Committee.   He can be contacted at wprather@surewest.net or 916-996-8037.
    AJ Mackin, Varsity Assistant Coach
    AJ has held a number of different coaching roles at Granite Bay.   In 2015-2016 he assisted with the Varsity program.  Prior to that he has been head coach for JV and Freshman.   AJ has also coached both girls and boys club volleyball for many years.   He is currently the William Jessup University Women's Volleyball Assistant Coach.
    Devin Elmore, Junior Varsity Head Coach
    A graduate of UC Davis majoring Sociology with a minor in coaching.  Four year Volleyball Captain in High School, multi-year All-League selection player.  Played in Professional VB exhibitions matches and has been playing since he was eight years old.  Two year Volleyball Coach at SynergyForce VBC, one year assistant coach for football and basketball at Antelope HS.
