Mike Alway - Student Athlete Class of 1988

       Mike Alway (’88) was a four year 3-sport athlete. In football, his frosh and JV teams won Sierra Foothill League championships. Then, for varsity, the Vices finished both years in second place in the SFL, as well as second in the section. In wrestling, the 4-year varsity wrestler qualified for subsections all 4 years. Mike played JV for 2 years and then was a varsity Outfielder. In league, he was selected first team all SFL as he batted .353 BA, scored 26 runs, with 15 RBI, 2 doubles, 10 BB. The team went 24-7 overall and was the 10th ranked medium school in the state after winning the section championship. He played 2 seasons of both baseball and football at Sierra. At Oakmont, Mike has spent several years as a coach in football, softball, and baseball. His 4 girls have been Viking athletes.
