Wendy Hernandez - Student Athlete Class of 1978Wendy Hernandez (’78) was among the first classes to experience 4 years of girls’ sports. She was a top athlete in 3 sports: Volleyball (varsity 4 years), Basketball (one year JV, 3 years on varsity), and Badminton (one year JV, 3 years varsity). A natural leader, her volleyball teams went from winless as a freshman to her last two years being 24-0 in the SFL. Winless in league as a freshman, she says that Coach Drever turned us into a TEAM.” Wendy was the top badminton player for OHS from her sophomore year. She played in the Optimist All Star volleyball game. Despite having a serious knee injury her senior year, Wendy went on to play volleyball and was selected All-Conference at Sierra College.
