TUPE Mural Project
RJUHSD TUPE facilitated Advocacy Through Art, a creative way to engage students while giving them the opportunity to learn, grow and reach their peers. During the 2020-21 school year we partnered with Hope Through Art to bring students a special opportunity to intern with a renowned muralist to bring awareness to Tobacco Prevention and Education. A diverse group of students, from three High Schools, participated in a four day intensive internship. They learned what it would take to make art their career and a step by step process of creating a wall mural. The permanent mural can be found on Adelante High School’s campus, and it will continue to reach students for generations to come. The unveiling and awards ceremony was hosted the evening the mural was finalized and students were individually recognized for their commitment to being tobacco free and for their artistic contribution. Community members, students, families and agency partners such as County Public Health, Coalition for Roseville Youth, County Tobacco Prevention Coalition, City Officials, and local news media were all in attendance. It was an amazing opportunity for community members to show their support for our youth and the importance of working together in Tobacco Prevention.
