2020-2021 Seal of Bi-literacy Forms
CA State Seal of Bi-literacy Applications are now available!
In order to be considered a candidate for the State Seal of Biliteracy, you have to have met or be on track to meet the following requirements:
1. Four years of English-Language Arts with an overall grade point average of 2.0 or higher
2. Proficiency in one or more languages, other than English, demonstrated through one of the following:
a. Successful completion of a four-year high school course of study in a foreign (world) language, attaining an overall grade point
average of 3.0 or higher in that course of study, and demonstration of oral proficiency in the language comparable to that
required to pass an AP or IB examination.
b. Passing an Advanced Placement exam in any foreign language with a score of 3 or higher
c. Passing an International Baccalaureate exam in any foreign language with a score of 4 or higher
d. Passing the SAT II Subject Test in Foreign Language with a score of 600 or higher
If the primary language of a student is other than English, he or she shall demonstrate English proficiency on the English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC) by receiving an overall score of 4 (Only Applicable if student is an English Learner).
