West Park High School Teacher's Dog

Dog portraits is one of the most popular assignments in Art 1 as students study realism, texture, and get to paint and draw their own dogs. This year students had the option to choose from one of our West Park High School teacher's or staff member's dogs. Many students opted to paint their teacher's dogs, who seemed to be quite the characters. Teachers excitedly accepted these gifts during a staff meeting, and graciously thanked the students for their work.

WPHS Students visit the Roseville Goats

Ms. Reynoso took her fall and spring semester art students on field trips to visit the Roseville goats, and they will be visiting them again once they come closer to West Park High School. They observed the goats and photographed them, and then in art class created landscape paintings and drawings inspired by their experiences with the goats. We discussed the Roseville goats' purpose of fire abatement, and went in depth into the study of drawing animals, and showing perspective in landscapes. Many students shared that it was their favorite experience of the year visiting the goats on their first field trip in years, and drawing an animal that they had studied in real life. You can view some of the student's art here.

Attendees watched dance, drama, and band performances, and ooh and awwd at all the impressive high school art.
